Come with us to India

When you read this newsletter, we will be on our last few days of our Textile Treasure Hunt in India. It has been a truly wonderful tour and if you have been following us on Facebook, you will have seen some of the wonderful scenery, sights and fantastic stitching techniques that we have all seen. I know I am very passionate about our trips to India, but everybody that comes with us has such a fantastic time and they all say how truly enlightening and spiritual India is.

Our trips to India do get fully booked quickly. We have organised trips to Jaipur and they are now almost all fully booked until September 2017. (There are a few reservations left in our January trip, but you need to move quickly to grab the space.)

If you want to go to India before 2017, then we do have some spaces on our trip to Rajasthan in November. Like all our trips to India, this will be a full-on tour of the sights and experiences of this wonderful North Western region of India. We will get to see lots of village crafting and of course, the world famous Pushkar Camel Fair.

If you would like to join us on our trip to Rajasthan, or any of the tours and holidays that we organise, then head over to the holiday section of our website where you will find the holiday booking form where you can reserve your place. We would love for you to join us.

Win £1,000!

We are getting lots of entries for our super competition. Last year we offered a space on one of our trips to India and we are doing the same this year, but also giving the winner the option to win £1,000 in cash if they want. All you have to do, is head over to our website and purchase any of our competition sets. Not only will you get the lovely blocks or silk printing kit, but you will also be entered into the competition. One entry for every competition set you purchase.

Good Luck!

pink-pouch-bag-300x300   circle-bag-1-300x300

We have added several new products to our latest arrivals section of the website this week. We were lucky enough to get our team of crafters in India to make these lovely bags in India on our last trip and they have just arrived and we wanted to get them up on the site as quickly as possible.

The pouch bags come in 5 different colours and are absolutely perfect for block printing. (More on that a little later.) The larger shoulder bags are incredibly versatile and big enough to carry all sorts of things. I use one to keep all of my different pieces of material that I have dyed and are ready to be block printed. It is very convenient to have them all in one place and it seems as if the bag was designed for exactly this purpose.

If you are interested in either of these bags then just click on the images and you will be sent directly to our website where you can make your purchase.

The question I get asked the most when I go to exhibition and shows is please can you show me things we can make and decorate using these lovely wooden printing blocks. In an effort to get some creative juices flowing for you, I have recorded a video showing you how I decorate one of the new pouch bags we have on our website. The video goes from the very start, outlining all of the items I use, the paint, the tray, the mat, the blocks and the bag, right through to the cleaning up process at the end of the project. Please click on the video below to watch it and I would love for you to leave me a comment or maybe a suggestion for what the next tutorial should be about. I would love to hear from you.

Come to Kashmir!

Kashmir arts-crafts-holidays-Colouricious

The Kashmir is the North Western region of India is located at the western end of the Himalayan Mountains. As you can imagine, this means that the sights and scenery of the region is breathtaking and mind blowing.

Kashmir is at the centre of several different cultures within Asia and as such there are many different influences on their daily life. It amalgamates Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist philosophies as well as Northern and Central Asian cultures. Add to this the fact that Kashmir has some of the most beautiful fabrics and materials means that this really is a place to visit.

We are organising a trip to the wonderful region in July and we would love for you to join us. The trip is a fully escorted by me and an English speaking tour guide. We will get to see the highlights of the region, as well watching villagers show their crafting techniques.

We have organised this trip to coincide with the fantastic Hemis Festival which takes place in Hemis Monastery in Leh. The two-day Festival celebrates victory of good over evil. You can see a number of people dressed in bright and colourful clothes to celebrate the festival. The Tibetan calendar indicates that on lunar month’s tenth day, the Lama Head organises this Hemis Festival. In order to protect his people, the Tibetan Buddhism founder, Guru Padmasambhava, fought the evils. On his birth anniversary, all the people celebrate Hemis festival grandly.

Although I have written quite a bit about this holiday, it really is difficult to put into words how exciting and enjoyable this tour will be. It really is a trip of a life time and you will take pictures and have memories that really will last forever.

If you are interested in joining us in July, then come on over to our website and reserve your place, we would love to see you on the trip.

Embellish with Felt

Embellish with Felt

Felt Crafts
Felt is a wonderful textile that is made by pressing, compacting and matting fabrics together. It is durable and easy to work with, and is often the first fabric that children encounter when they get a chance to do fabric crafting.

The possibilities of using felt in a textile crafting project are endless and each project can be as complex or simple as you want. From making a side-stitched purse to detailed flowers, felt is the fabric to use.

Colouricious has a Felt Craft page on its website which includes several videos on how to use felt in projects as well as embellishing to further your felting techniques.

Felt Craft Video

If you are interested in felt embellishing then we also have two super DVDs that covers all aspects of this craft. We are running a special offer at the moment that means that if you buy the Level 1 Embellishing DVD you will get the Level 2 DVD for free! To take advantage of this offer please use the link below.

It’s Cold Outside

I am sure it will not have escaped the notice of all of the UK members of the Colouricious Club that it has taken a decidedly turn for the colder in the last few days. It is when the days get colder that our minds inevitably turn towards holidays in warmer climates and what we are planning to do next year.

Colouricious have a super itinerary of really exciting trips and tours organised throughout 2016 to locations all over India as well as Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Vietnam. Each holiday is a tailor made trip taking in all of the most important sights and experiences in the regions and countries we will be going to. If you are interested in coming with us on one of the holidays, please visit our website and choose the holiday that most appeals to you. Each one is distinctly different, but they will all give you days of enjoyment and memories that will last forever. But don’t take our word for it…

From Kaye :-
“Thank you so much for a wonderful trip it was more than I could have ever imagined. My mind is now able to take it all in & looking at all the wonderful photos everyone is putting up is jogging the memory!”

From Anne :-
Your zest for everything is infectious and inspirational … thank you for putting up with us all …

If this has tempted you, come on over to our website and pick your holiday of a lifetime. We can’t wait to see you!
