Learn all about Decovil
Decovil is tear-resistant, but also dimensionally stable and easy to shape. Furthermore it is resilient, resistant to bending, punchable and the cutting edges stay tight. Thereby the fixed fabrics are good to handle and very stable and durable. Ideally suited for the creation of hats, belts, bags and small fabric bowls, but also, for interior decoration.
Textile artist, Kim Thittichai loves to use this material for lots of her different experimental textile projects. There are a number of videos showing Kim at work with Decovil on our website and you can view some of them by clicking on the video below.

Knitting Stitching Show

The Festival of Quilts at the NEC was so much fun, and I really appreciate all the Colouricious Club members who found to time to track me down and say hello. It was so good to see you all and I hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did. We had such a good laugh with the secret password that gave you 10% there and then!

There is a short break before the next show which is at Alexandra Palace in London on 7th – 11th October. The Knitting Stitching Show is a very popular exhibition and I will have news about my stand number and where you can find me in future newsletters. This stitch event is five days long and is in North London. If you have never been to such an event I would encourage you to come as it is the “must do” textile event in London. Wax Print

Wax Print

Wax print or Batik originated in India. The word batik actually means ‘wax writing’.

To decorate cloth by wax print you have to cover a part of the cloth with a coat of wax and then dye the cloth. When the wax is removed the contrast between the dyed and undyed areas makes the pattern, as the waxed areas keep their original colour.
The beauty of wax print is its simplicity. Some of the best effects in batik are often achieved by chance. Batik is very popular in southern India and is an amazing way of printing fabric.

Wax print is an amazing way of textile design and you will be able to experience it up close on our Colouricious textile tour to Southern India. You will be able to try it out for yourself when you get home, and achieve some amazing results.
